Based on a mold of the patient’s teeth that has been scanned into a computer, a set of transparent retainers is created. These are then worn 24 hours a day, except during meals, brushing, and flossing, to gradually guide the teeth into their correct positions. The retainers are changed out every two weeks until the desired realignment is complete.
