Dental Bonding Maryland

A Quick, Inexpensive, and Effective Solution to Flawed Teeth

Slight structural imperfections in teeth can sometimes prove to be glaring cosmetic flaws, holding a great smile back from reaching its full potential. Dental bonding at our Maryland cosmetic dentistry practice is performed to conceal flaws in the teeth quickly and effectively. Among its many benefits, dental bonding is:

  • Relatively Painless
  • Versatile – Dental bonding can be used to cover a variety of flaws, including slight gaps between teeth, discoloration, and cracks.
  • Quick - Dental bonding usually takes only one appointment.
  • Inexpensive – Compared to in-office teeth whitening, inlays, onlays, and veneers, dental bonding is a highly cost-efficient alternative.
  • Durable – Bonding can last for ten to fifteen years with proper maintenance.

An additional benefit of entrusting Smiles by Design with your teeth comes in the form of the extensive experience we possess and high level of quality to which we hold ourselves. Dr. Martin Abel and Dr. Shannon Abel are exceptionally gifted dentists who perform a variety of high-quality dental treatments, including bonding, for Maryland, Washington D.C., and Northern Virginia residents.

How Bonding Spruces Up Your Smile

Normally, dental bonding can be done in one sitting at our office. In some circumstances, the teeth will need to be cleaned or any decaying portions of the teeth will need to be removed before the treatment can begin. Afterwards, the fronts of the teeth are made rougher to give the dental bonding material a suitable surface to which to adhere. Once the bonding material has been placed on the tooth, the resin is coated over and polished smooth. Finally a special light is used to cure the resin and bonding material.

Potential Difficulties

Dental bonding is a safe treatment for a myriad of issues, but is not as durable as porcelain and some other materials used in dental work, and may weaken or become stained after several years. Although it is rare, some patients are allergic to composite resin, causing irritation around the mouth where the bonding has been placed. In this case, the bonding will need to be removed as quickly as possible.
